"My Roots"

Sorry for neglecting the blog these past few days. I have been busy getting ready for the next stage of my business, "portfolio building". I will have portfolio session prices posted on the site soon.

Thought I would take the opportunity to post a little sneak peak of where I grew up. Since I have moved up here to Saskatchewan, I am always asked where I am from and what it is like "down there" in Idaho. When you have lived in the same place your whole life, it is surprisingly hard to describe. I never realized how much I ignored the little things around me. Well, when I went back to Idaho this last time, I took my regular walk up to the foothills to take everything in. I plan on sharing pictures after (or during) each visit, starting with this picture of Boise's foothills.

Yeah for Story Boards!!

These are some fun story boards I put together of the girls. I can't wait to order one to put on my wall as an example. They are great to blow up and put in a frames. Instead of one picture, you get to create a story out of a couple. (sorry if they are a tad pixely, I'm still learnin the ropes of posting to this blog)

Family Lovin'

Saturday was a beautiful day, so we went out with my brother and sister in law and took some family pictures. The sun was a little bright, but we tried. Duane followed us with the camera bag, it was a lot of fun.

Jack is such a sweet little baby, and smiling all the time. I just love his chunky cheeks and big dark brown eyes. This last picture has to be my absolute favorite. It shows just how small he is holding onto Dad's finger.

Back from Idaho!!

I am finally back from my trip to Idaho. I had a great time. Mom and I went shopping for props. We found an awesome 1920's trunk that I can't wait to use in pictures. I spent an entire day and a half reading The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks, then my sister and I went and saw the movie. The trip back up was pretty boring. I was lonely without my hubby or a dog to talk to. But I survived, thanks to a very large bag of double stuffed Oreos, Gardettos, sunflowers seeds, and the latest cds of Jake Owen, OneRepublic, and Randy Houser. I forgot to bring my ipod charger, just like I forgot my computer charger. Anyway. . .

I took quite a lot of pictures while I was back home.

It was prom while I was down and my beautiful cousin and sister were sweet enough to get dressed up again the next day and head to the river for pictures. We had a TON of fun!! Can't wait to take some senior pics of them both.

I have had a few people ask when I am posting more blog pictures. I apologize I have been neglecting it. I took so many pictures in Idaho that I want to share, but I am really busy for the next two weeks. Once I get things in order here at the house I will post some more.

For now, this is the sneak peak.

A New Discovery

I'm back in Idaho for a week visiting the family. It's good to get some of Momma's Southern Cook'in and time to relax. I am feedin the cows for Pops while I'm down, I didn't think I would ever miss that, but I guess I do.

For years cattle have come and gone among the small Van Lith herd. Eventually they all begin to look the same, no matter the breed. But today. . . I made a revelation. Maybe they aren't all the same. Actually, they are in fact very different. What makes them different? . . . their hair. Yes, that't right, those select few are fortunate enought to have their own unique hair style. Call me crazy. . . or see for yourself.

The spike do. . .

a perm. . .

the comb-over. . .

just outta bed. . .
See, I told ya.

Now time to get back to work reading my book and laying on the couch. :)
